AHUs condition and distribute fresh air within a building by drawing air from the external environment, filter it, heat/cool it, or humidify it and then redistribute it through ductwork into the designated area within a building.

They draw in huge amounts of pollutants (especially in busy cities). Filters are required to be replaced often and coil chambers require cleaning every 3 months for AHUs to function optimally.
